Center "Amalipe" conducted a green school for children from 4 and 7 grades from the pilot schools involved in the program "Reducing Roma children drop out of school - EVERY STUDENT COULD BE A WINNER".
About 100 students from ten schools from the regions of Targovishte , Veliko Tarnovo, Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv , Pazardzhik, Sofia, Vratsa, Pleven and Stara Zagora, were guests of Centre "Amalipe" in Veliko Tarnovo. Within four days the students took part in activities, organized by the volunteers to the youth clubs, established by Centre "Amalipe" under the project "Youth is tolerance" and got the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills in the compulsory subjects in school, Bulgarian language and literature and mathematics.
The curriculum for the green school included activities to make children believe that they could achieve their dreams, to be ensured that they could achieve success in school and in life, to motivate them to continue their education and to involve actively in school and in activities organized by young people in order to receive a better socialization.
In an interesting and entertaining way, twice a day, students worked with qualified teachers in Bulgarian language and literature and mathematics. They made in an attractive and funny way several tests to make students understand where their mistakes were, what they forgot and what should they emphasize to perform well on the forthcoming external evaluation. Teacher also had individual work with all the students on the topics that they felt they needed to improve or remember.The volunteers to Center "Amalipe" emphasized interactive educational games to encourage children that each one of them could be a winner and helped them to direct their goals and dreams for the future.
The curriculum also included a walk to the nearby town of LYASKOVETS and hike to the monastery "St. Peter and Pavel". Lots of fun, sports, rest and new friendships were the main themes of the "Green School - To know each other and learn new things". Night of the talents, "green festival" of school groups , Mr. and Mrs. "Amalipe" ... activities that unite children, enabling them to express themselves, to show the strongest skills and share their innermost desires were conducted.
Our program was directed to work with children at risk of dropping out and we achieved our goal - making children feel better, be assure of themselves, motivated and confident that they could succeed in school and achieve their dreams (doctors, plastic surgeons, players, teachers, vets, lawyers, computer engineers ... ) . But whether those children's dreams would become a reality depends on all of us: teachers, parents and governing educational institutions at all levels in our country .
"Very fruitful, varied and interesting. Children started to watch from a different angle to the educational process and the requirements of teachers towards them. Here, they found new friends, participated willingly in the activities. The interactive games were presented to them in an accessible way in which they discovered new worlds. The smiling volunteers became a good example and ideals for the students. The children were filled with emotions of fun and happy new acquaintances with their peers, which will remain unforgettable for them. Thank you for the wonderful days and wonderful organization", shared by teachers attended the green school.
