06.04.2015National meeting of school parliaments in Sliven

Over 250 children from across the country, parents, teachers and youth volunteers gathered in Sliven 2 to 5 April to join the School of tolerance and friendship, organized by the Center "Amalipe". Hundred of children were presidents of Student parliaments in schools, working to reduce dropout of Roma students on the program "Every student can be best performer." They shared experiences and discussed how to organize effective work of student parliaments, so that these structures of student government to make school more interesting for children, contribute to reducing absenteeism, prevention of early marriages and to increase the number of young men and women who continue their education in secondary schools and universities. Following the principles of parliamentary democracy, and students held a debate on the draft law on pre-school and school education. On April 3rd parliamentary oversight of them were representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science Ms Penka Ivanova, Director of "Formation, analysis, evaluation and policy," Dr. Joseph Nunev, state expert in the same directorate MES and Mr. Robert Djerassi, adviser in the Cabinet of the Minister Tanev. Young parliamentarians debated the bill for education and with his colleague MP from 43 National Assembly Galina Zaharieva.

 

The remaining 150 children were students in the 4th and 7th grade in 10 of the 170 schools that Center "Amalipe" work program "Every student can be best performer." They prepared for the successful performance of the external evaluation, which is about only a month and a half.
