17.03.2017Participants in the program "Equal Chance" with very good success at the end of the first semester

Ninety-eight young people from the country are supported by Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance "Amalipe" in completing their secondary education, by paying their transport cards and provide them with textbooks. 64 of them are supported by the "Equal Chance - access to secondary education" Program, finaced by Trust for social achievement, and the remaining 34 are supported by funds from the organization.

The students come from poor families living in villages and small towns and studying in secondary schools in big cities. To keep boys and girls at school, Center "Amalipe" helps them not only by covering transportation costs and supply of textbooks, but also involve them in volunteering activities. The scholars are required to attend school regularly,to have at least least good average success at school and to be involved in extracurricular activities.

At the end of the first semester, the average grade of the students, supported by TSA was very good 4.66. The average number of unjustified absences is only 2.95, having in mind that 20 of the students do not have any absence. Twelve students have excellent grades, three - Russka Nikolova, Tsvetelina Bozhurska and Shefket Aldin have 6.00.

Center "Amalipe" tries to engage young people to develop their potential and to be active citizens. We believe that is the only way for the support to be truly comprehensive and to develop the competences of young people. For example, Sylvester Marinov, Antonina Sirakova and Tsvetelina Hristova studying in music schools, participated in numerous concerts outside their curricula. During the last period Sylvester once again has been a volunteer at the community center "Progress - 1897 ' in the village of Popitsa and home for elderly people in the same village where madethe elderly people happy with  attention and songs.

Many children participate in school parliaments and develop many activities locally. This happens in Yambol, Zlatarica, Sliven, Byala Slatina and others. We try to pay attention to each student and help him /her to believe in theirselves. After the active involvement of Dimitar Asenov in volunteering in the past year, his success for the same period has increased by one unit.

Longstanding support to these students leads to a high degree of success and motivation. It proved to be extremely important for not dropping out from school and to develop their maximum potential.

Trust for social achievement (TSA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to break the vicious circle of poverty by promoting opportunities that help the most disadvantaged citizens of Bulgaria to achieve educational and economic success. TSA supports programs, which for its integrity, growth potential and transparency help to improve the welfare of the poorest people in Bulgaria, with a special focus on Roma.

17.03.201752 concepts approved on integrated scheme to support the implementation of municipal plans for Roma integration

Fifty-two municipalities continue forward on the integrated scheme to support the implementation of municipal plans for Roma integration financed under OP "Human Resources Development" and OP "Science and education for smart growth." Their concepts for integrated projects were approved by the inter-ministerial group to the Central Coordination Unit and municipalities will be invited to develop project proposals as specific beneficiaries.

The concepts of 26 municipalities are not approved because they didn't meet the formal criteria. They will be able to correct gaps in the subsequent submission of project concepts.

Successful concepts are worth less than 26 millions leva, which is significantly less than the allocated 55 millions leva. It is expected with the rest of the resource to be re-invited municipalities that meet the requirements of Component 1: have approved Municipal plans for Roma integration. Those are the municipalities in the so-called. "Rural areas" and the urbanized municipalities, which have not set construction of social housing in their IPURD.

Approved 52 municipalities and municipalities in Component 2 (urban municipalities that have provided construction of social housing in their IPURD and also have approved municipal plans for Roma integration) will be invited to develop project proposals in April.

On November 10, the Managing Authorities of the Operational Programmes "Human Resources" and "Science and education for smart growth" said procedure for the realization of the operation by which will be supported implementation of municipal plans for Roma Inclusion 2015-2020. Concrete beneficiaries of the operation are municipalities that have approved - by a decision of the City Council - Municipal plan for Roma inclusion 2015 - 2020, and they can apply only in partnership-with NGOs, school / kindergarten and employer.

The specific objectives of the integrated scheme aimed at promoting social inclusion through:

  • Supporting integration into the labor market of marginalized groups (Strand 1);
  • Ensuring access to education and training (Strand 2);
  • Improving access to social and health services (Strand 3);
  • Development of local communities and overcome negative stereotypes (Strand 4);
  • Construction of social housing (Division 5).

Integrated scheme will be implemented in two components:

Component 1(50 millions leva OPHRD + 5 millions leva OPSESG): On the territory of municipalities with updated municipal plans for Roma Integration for the period 2015-2020 in accordance with the National Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria for Roma Integration 2012 -2020 (Strand 1-4). These are the municipalities of so-called.

Component 2 (30 mlns leva OPHRD +3 millions leva OPSESG): On the territory of the municipalities of 39 towns from first to third hierarchical level of national polycentric system according NKPR 2013-2025 - beneficiaries under Priority axis 1 OPRD 2014-2020, whose IPURD includes measures to build social housing. (Strand 5)

Municipalities on Component 1 had to submit concepts to December 15, 2016 The interest shown was relatively low and only 78 municipalities applied, although extremely simplified and easy to complete forms. From the published official release, available on http://www.eufunds.bg, becomes clear that the majority of the submitted concepts are not very qualitative. It will be necessary omissions to be overcome in the preparation of specific proposals.
