Whilst the landmark ruling on July 11th by the District Court of Pazardhik judged Angel Kaleev guilty of ethnically motivated violence against a person in regards to the case of Mitko Jonkov, such incidents are widespread in Bulgaria and often go unaddressed.

It is for this reason that EGAM representatives will come together to ensure that this ruling is not the last of its kind, and to ensure the presence of a true European solidarity is felt in Bulgaria.

During the press-conference results from survey about hate speech will be presented, analysis of European Commission report about the progress of Roma integration policy,, etc.

On July 23rd participants in the meeting will visit the Roma community in Elin Pelin and the village of Lesnovo, where the community coordinators to Center Amalipe Anelia Dudinova and Ivan Todorov will introduce the real situation of Roma in this area. 20.07.2016Center "Amalipe" conducted training on "Community Development"

From 14 to 16 of July, the  "Lesoparka" hotel once again opened its doors to welcome Center "Amalipe" and friends. Moderators from all centers for community development, established by CIDT "Amalipe" and coordinators to the organization, along with other representatives of Roma organizations, including the Association L.A.R.G.O, Kyustendil, Association "New Road", Hayredin, "World without borders", Stara Zagora, participated in the training on "Community development in the Roma community."

Achievements of the centers for the first half of the year were discussed during the meeting and greater activation and community building has been confirmed. Moderators shared best practice and their activity by centers and made the exchange of experience, such as making service in the Roma community in health, social, educational and other fields, subsequent advocacy to address the identified problems and improve services, support and participation in advocacy for the implementation of policies for Roma integration.

The activity of moderators led to increasing the capacity of Roma communities, to developing leadership qualities in the local activists and carry out fieldwork by conducting discussions and informal talks and resolve specific cases.

The chairman of Center "Amalipe" Deyan Kolev presented to the participants the important role of regional coordinator and moderator for the development and strengthening of local Roma communities, and the opportunity to expand the network of Amalipe by funding within national programs.

The contents of the health survey and ways to analyze was also discussed during the training. The survey is conducted every six months by the moderators and volunteers to Center "Amalipe" using the "door to door" method and its results are published once a year in order to attract the attention of the institutions and the general public to solve problems of the community.

In one of the modules participants were divided into groups by region and thus participated in the role-playing game entitled "Working with institutions." In the role of mayors were Sasho Kovachev and Gancho Iliev, who tried to hinder the access of moderators to institutions to improve their quality of communication.

In turn moderators showed various successful methods and approaches to communicating with public officials in small and medium towns.

The module was completed with positive emotions and innovative ideas for future cooperation between the Roma community and institutions.

At the end of the meeting participants promised to continue their work in the field responsibly and to step up efforts to modernize the Roma community.
