"Security in small settlements" was the theme of the meeting held on June 21 in the district administration Veliko Tarnovo between the Ministry of Interior, MPs, mayors and Center "Amalipe."
The meeting was initiated by the Deputy Chair of the National Assembly Ivan Ivanov. It was attended by the Deputy Minister of Interior Tsvyatko Georgiev, members of parliament Vili Lilkov and Evgeni Stoev, Deputy mayor of Veliko Tarnovo George Kamarashev, Chairman of Veliko Tarnovo municipal council Ventsislav Spiridonov, Director of RDMI Dimitar Mashov, Director of the Labour Office Veliko Tarnovo Obreshko Nechev, Dessislava Stefanova and Ivan Todorov TSMEDT "Amalipe" mayors of settlements in the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo. Hosts of the forum was the governor prof. Pencho Penchev and his deputies.
Increased number of employees of the Interior Ministry, more emplyees of Roma origin in the system, more effective surveillance in small settlements and the creation of municipal police were the most pressing issues that were discussed during the forum.
Statistics showed that crime detection from the beginning of the year has been 52%., while for the same period in 2015 it was 42 %. The data are from a report carried by the Director of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry Dimitar Mashov. One reason for increasing crime detection in the region is the presence of surveillance system in 34 of the 36 settlements in the municipality of Veliko Tarnovo and collaboration between law enforcement officers and moderators of the Center "Amalipe."
In its report, the Director of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry explicitly highlighted the fruitful cooperation with all local institutions and Center "Amalipe" and shared best practices of collaboration.
The representative of "Amalipe" Ivan Todorov expressed his gratitude to the Regional Directorate of their dedication to the theme of inclusion of Roma representatives in the structure of the Ministry. The proposal of Centre "Amalipe" to organize a meeting of all regional directorates at the Ministry of Interior in the old capital on which to share experiences and best practices was unanimously accepted. During the discussion the organization supported the proposal of the mayor of the village of Balvan to raise public awareness about domestic crime and creating a volunteer corps to assist the work of local police officers.
The forum ended with the assurance of subsequent meetings and delivery of letter of gratitude from Center "Amalipe" to the Director of the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry Veliko Tarnovo Mr. Mashov for fruitful cooperation during the implementation of the thirteenth edition of the "Open Heart" festival.
