The anti-Roma Concept of Deputy Prime Minister Karakachanov was Not accepted by the National Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues. It was absolutely ignored at the meeting of the Council, that took place on July 25th.
The meeting itself was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Chair of the NCCEII Tomislav Donchev, Deputy Prime Minister Karakachanov also took part in it. In the presence of all deputy ministers from VMRO's quota, as well as of large number of media representatives, Krassimir Karakachanov presented his Concept, repeating the regular untrustworthy and untrue statements about the hundreds of millions BGN spent for Roma integration with no success. Although for several years the active Roma organizations did not participate in the National Council and did not attend the meeting, many other organizations objected to a number of unacceptable proposals in the concept. The few Roma organizations, that are still members in the Council also objected to it.
Thus, the document received its first strong resistance by the government. It will also be considered at a meeting of the Council for Tripartite Cooperation at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
