30.11.2015Third regional meeting of directors

 

                On 27th and 28th November in the village of Ribaritsa, Teteven district, was held the third regional meeting of 70 directors of schools, involved in the third part of the Decreasing the dropout rate among Roma children from school Programme “Every student will be a winner”.  The event is for the schools from North-Western and South-Western regions of Bulgaria and was led by Yonka Danova and Maya Pencheva, both regional coordinators from Center "Amalipe".

                The two-day meeting started with a song, performed by the soloist Desislava Ivanova from the Group for Authentic folklore "Tetevenski bozhurcheta". The Mayor of Municipality of Teteven city dr. Madlen Boyadzhieva welcomed the participants in the meeting. Other guests were several experts from the Regional inspectorates of Education in Montana and Pleven cities, directors of future starting schools , the Chairman of Municipal council in Teteven city Mrs. Maria Stoycheva and Zhaneta Georgieva from an NGO.

                The first two sessions of the first day resumed the results of the previous two parts of the Drecreasing the dropout rate among Roma children from school programme. The main activities are about empowerment of the students and their parents, pedagogical help and tools for work in multicultural environment, help for achieving the dropout prevention scholar strategy, exchange of good practices.  The evaluation of the project  is categorical - it has the potential to become a national programme. After that,  the coordinators presented the aims, activities and main elements of the "Every student will be a winner" project and the possibilities of funding its activities.

                Next, the participants were divided into 5 groups to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Student parliaments, Parental clubs, Student mentors and  exchange visits among the schools. The last one revised the causes and dispositions in the individual cases of students at risk.

                In the end of the first day, the directors were divided into two groups by regions. They shared their experience in solving problems in achieving the scholar activities; collaborating with the local government institutes; consisting of schools teams for executing the activities by the "Small grants", and so on.

                During the second day, the directors received information about the new operational programmes, schemes and partnerships, established by Center "Amalipe" and the municipalities. Also, they were fascinated about the initiative "Together we are better... in school". which is under the patronage of Her Highness Mrs. Margarita Popova, Vice-President of the Republic of Bulgaria.

The director of Primary  school "St. Cyril and St. Methodius" in Malorad village Maya Donkova, the director of Secondary school "Hristo Smirnenski" in Koynare town Daniela Tsanyovska and the director of the Primary school "Hristo Botev" in Lopyan village shared their experience with realizing activities within the initiative. Taking part in the initiative is a good tool for the school to become more distinguishable and to create relations with other institutions, such as embassies and so on.

                At the end of the meeting, the participants talked about the organization of regional festivals "Open Heart". The directors rated the meeting as needed, efficient and useful.
