Social Policy Week, organized by Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, DG “Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities” of EC and European Social Fund took place for first time in Bulgaria from May 26 to 29. The initiative aimed at discussing the major chhallanges before Bulgarian social policy and social integration one year after the EU Accession.

The Social Policy Week was devided into six special days: anti-discrimination ands equal opportunities, social inclusion, safety and health at work place, labour migration, employment policy, European Social Fund in Bulgaria. Hi-level politicians took part in the Week: MPs, the Minister of Labour and Social Policy and all deputy ministers, representatives of other institutions. Hi-level representatives of the European Commission as well as the entire Unite “Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Netherlands” of DG “Employment...” participated in the Week too.

Deyan Kolev and Teodora Krumova from Center “Amalipe” took part in the Social Policy Week as well as representatives of other Roma organizations. The issue of Roma inclusion was actively discused not only within the Day for anti-discrimination (chaired by the National Coordinator for the Decade of Roma Inclusion Baki Hyuseinov) but also within the other days. Vigorous steps for improving the integration of the vulnerable groups and especially the integration of Roma are necessary and the European Commission will inssist on their effective implementation: this was one of the key masseges during the Social Policy Week. You have done much but much more should be done. We will assist you and we will strongly observe how this happens...” – stated Jerome Vignon, Director for Social Protection and Social Inclusion, DG “Employment...” of the European Commission.
