Field visit of “Youth is Tolerance” in Szeged, Hungary gather together volunteers from Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary and Romania. Center Amalipe is a leading organization of this project. The program (25.09.2014 – 28.09.2014) contained different games and discussions on the topics of Culture of tolerance, Team work, Roma history and etc.

The youngsters shared their experience on the combating of anti-Roma stereotypes in their countries. They talked about their successes and how to improve their work and skills.
“To change your stereotypes is not an easy task, but when you realize that the different one has the same wishes, feelings and dreams as you, then you realize how much you are the same. That way you’re crossing the borders of your mind and you just accept.” – says one of the volunteers from Bulgaria.

The volunteers working on the “Youth is Tolerance project are strongly motivated to continue their work even after the end of the project – January 2015. They believe that it’s not only an activity to do in their free time, but a case to accept and fight for. This project helped a lot to change some stereotypes among the participants from the 4 countries that they had to each other.

In the last day of the event, the participants had the chance to meet with Csholi Joszef Darazsdi – Roma poet and researcher of the Roma identity and culture. The poet told about the researches that he has done about the Roma community. “The future of Roma in Europe depends on the motivation of Roma people to be educated” – said mr. Darazsdi.

All the volunteers took active part in the field visit. They’ve learned new things and found new friends to keep contact with and to keep exchanging experience even after the end of this meeting.
