UNICEF Bulgaria and Center "Amalipe" launch a national information campaign with main purpose to promote children’s rights amongst the society on the occasion of 25 years from the signing of Children’s rights convention (it was signed on 20 November 1989). The campaign starts with a photo initiative “UNICEF Photo reporters”, in which through pictures, made by children and adults (no professional and professionals), the Bulgarian children’s life can be shown through the prism of their own rights.
The campaign consist of two main stages. The first stage starts on 29 September and ends on 24 October. It will run an initiative by which children and people from all ages from every part of Bulgaria can send their own photographs, which represent children’s life through the prism of their rights. People can send their photographs by specially created on-line platform of the initiative (http://unicef.bg/reporteri).
Every child and every adult can participate, no matter if he is a professional or not, because it is not necessary for the photographs to be taken with a professional technique. The photographs will be selected in two main categories: children to 18 years and adults above 18 years. The categories in which photographs can be sent, reflect the main children’s rights: right of life, right of name and citizenship, right of family and family environment, right of information, right of free expression, right of cares and protection, right of personal space and personal life, right of good life standard, right of development and education, right of protection from exploitation, sexual abuse, deprivation of freedom and children traffic.
In the end of the first stage 50 photographs will be chosen. They will be included in a traveling exhibition.
The second stage of the campaign starts on 6 November, when the exhibition will be officially shown in several Bulgarian cities, and it will be accompanied by extra activities, which mark the anniversary of the signing the Children’s rights convection.
