Female Ambassadors to Bulgaria have united in honour of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2018, and they are giving girls from across Bulgaria a chance to experience what it’s like to be an ‘Ambassador for the day’. 

The British Embassy in Sofia announces a competition for girls aged 15-19. The approved applicants will observe the work of one of the ambassadors involved in the initiative within one day and will take part with her at a high-level round table, taking place on Wednesday 7 March 2018 at which a debate on gender equality will take place.

The aim of the competition is to provide the winners with an insight into international diplomacy in action. But, also to encourage girls to participate in politics and diplomacy and to add their voices and perspectives to international relations, development and conflict resolution. 

Rules of the contest and requirements:

- You need to be able to travel to Sofia on March 7, Wednesday and be prepared to meet the ambassador to which you are assigned and to participate in the round table.

- Travel and accommodation costs will be covered by the British Embassy.

- Only girls aged 15 to 19 are allowed to enter the competition.

- Knowledge of English is not a requirement to apply. If necessary, a translation will be provided.

- Representatives of the British Embassy will contact winners by February 23, Friday.
