23.03.2018Center Amalipe held training for active volunteers in Etropole and Novi Pazar
On 10th and 17th of March 2018 Center Amalipe held one-day training for active volunteers at the Community Development Centers in Etropole and Novi Pazar . The topic was "How to effectively develop volunteering in a given location". 121 volunteers in Etropole and 42 volunteers in Novi Pazar participated in the training.
The participants learned about the problems of the Roma community - low levels of education and health status, early marriages and dropping out of school. Marko Georgiev and Aldin Stefanov presented in front of the community their field work and shared the results, achieved through the women's, youth and leaders groups. Andrei Iliev - community development coordinator, shared what advocacy is and how it can be applied in a given location. Mr. Iliev noted the exceptional importance of educational integration in the Roma community.
At the end of the training seminars, an action plan was made, which included activities to overcome stereotypes, future joint initiatives and campaigns, and promotion of volunteering.

Amalipe Center works with hundreds of volunteers across the country. They participate in Parent Clubs, Youth Groups, Women's Groups and Leader Groups. Volunteers are involved in local community development activities such as information campaigns, early marriages prevention, campaigns to improve health culture, support for education and local school activities, etc. Our experience shows that volunteering in the Roma community is a "mission possible", involving people form all ethnicities.
