06.07.2011The Commission for Roma Integration elected NGO representatives for preparing the National Roma Strategy
On 5th of July in the Council of Ministers, the Commission for Roma Integration within the National Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues (NCCEII) held a session for electing NGO representatives in the Working group that will prepare the National Roma Integration Strategy (with respect to the Communication of European Commission from April 5, 2011) and Action plan to 2020.
The meeting was attended by the deputy chairs of NCCEII Georgi Krastev and Stella Kostova, by the secretary of the Council Rositza Ivanova and by non-governmental organizations. Center Amalipe was represented by Lyubomir Lazarov.
The participants agreed on the following issues:
· The Working Group will be composed of several thematic groups: Education, Health, Housing, Employment and Social Inclusion, Culture and Media and Group for developing a mechanism for implementation and monitoring of the activities.
· The ratio of NGOs - institutions should be 3:2, i.e. three representatives from the NGOs and two representatives from the institutions.
· From the quota of NGOs in the thematic working groups with a simple majority were elected the following representatives:
Group "Education" - Deyan Kolev, Rumyan Sechkov and Donka Panayotova
Group "Health" - Dr. Panayotov Dr. Turnev and Gancho Iliev
Group "Housing" - Maria Metodieva, Alexander Kracholov and Mitko Dokov
Group "Employment and social inclusion" - Spaska Mihailova, Georgi Bogdanov and Nikolay Kirilov
Group "Culture and Media" - Vasil Chaprazov, Valerie Lekov and Methody Filchev
Group "Mechanism for implementation and monitoring" - Lily Makaveeva, Milen Milanov and Ilona Tomova
The mandate and the final composition of the working groups with representatives from the institutions will be approved by special order of the Prime Minister Mr. Boyko Borisov. Draft versions of the documents must be submitted by early September 2011. In September and October public discussions will take place. The final version of the National Roma Strategy will be finalized in November
