Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance “AMALIPE” (Bulgaria), Romani CRISS (Romania), National Roma Centrum (Macedonia), European Roma Information Office (Brussels) in cooperation with European Economic and Social Committee are organizing Hearing on Monitoring and Evaluation of the National Roma Integration Strategies. The hearing will be held in Brussels on June 26, 2012 with the aim of proposing comprehensive mechanisms for monitoring and evaluation of the National Roma Integration Strategies, with an emphasis on the health care chapter, that include:

• forms of community monitoring at the grassroots level;
• a system of shadow reporting done by NGOs and other civil society stakeholders;
• mechanisms for communicating the results from community-based M&E with national institutions especially with the national focal points responsible for implementing and evaluating the NRIS’s to estabiish the mechanisms for contributing to FRA/DG JUST monitoring and evaluation.

During the event, findings and conclusions will be presented from two reports : “Monitoring and Evaluation Chapters in the National Roma Integration Strategies” by Jose Manuel Fresno and “Good Practices for M&E of Roma Integration Initiatives” by Dimitar Dimitrov and Mariana Milosheva. As follow-up to the hearing, policy recommendations will be published under the title “Mechanisms for Robust Monitoring and Evaluation of the National Roma Integration Strategies.”

European Commission officials, representatives of the Fundamental Rights Agency, national focal points for Bulgaria and Romania, Roma NGOs and independent experts are expected to take part in the hearing.
