19.06.2012Meeting of the local activists from the municipalities of Veliko Tarnovo, Pavlikeni and Gorna Oryahovitsa.
Within three consecutive days, on June 14-16, 2012 is going to be held meeting of community moderators and local activists from the Centers for Community Development and Local Clubs for Development on the territory of the municipalities Pavlikeni, Veliko Tarnovo and Gorna Oryahovitsa. The Centers for Community Development are created by Center Amalipe under ‘Public monitoring on the health services in minority communities’ project funded by the Health Program of Open Society Institute. The meeting will start on June 14 at 2 p.m. and it will end in the early afternoon of June 16. It will take place in ‘Lesoparka’ complex near the town of Lyaskovets (8 km from Veliko Tarnovo).
Aim of the work meeting is the participants to share their previous experience in the community work and to be developed a work plan on a municipal level in partnership with the local institutions. Other goals of the workshop are to be increased the capacity of the local activists through developing of informal mechanisms for community support and through cooperation building with existing institutions.
The project started in January 2012 and up to date there are created two centers on a municipal level on territory of Veliko Tarnovo and Pavlikeni municipalities. They employ two community moderators each whose main task is built on field research to activate and mobilize the development of the local social capital through different initiatives, to enhance the community monitoring on delivery of health services and to be developed advocacy mechanisms which will allow participating in the processes to improve health services in a long-term. To achieve greater efficiency at municipal level, there were set up local Clubs for Community Development to assist the local communities in the implementation of the project activities. A disclosure of a Local Club for Community Development will be done in the Kaltinets square, Gorna Oryahovitsa.
On the meeting will take part community moderators, local activists, representatives of the local authorities in the places where function Centers and Clubs.
