23.07.2012Early diagnosis and integrated treatment are key factors in combat women cancer
Health lectures on the problems of the women’s healthcare were organized in the town of Byala Cherkva (municipality of Pavlikeni) and in the village of Ledenik (municipality of Veliko Tarnovo) in two consecutive days – July 16-17, 2012. Organizer of the lectures which are part of the activities under ‘Public monitoring of the healthcare services among minority communities’ project was Center Amalipe. A key project priority is the work with people from vulnerable groups. Through such lectures it aims to draw the attention of the local community, particularly of the women, on increasing the responsibility for their own health and to strengthen the community monitoring on delivery of health services.
Lecturer was Dr. Mavrodi Kaleynski. In Ledenik part of the discussion was also Dr. Albena Lambeva, Head of the Regional Health Inspection.
Observations show that they are women, mainly from small villages, who haven’t visited gynecologist since years. Even if they have moans they do not search for specialized health help. One of the reasons for that is that they are ashamed to look for such help, on the other hand - unpaid health insurances. The sex education and the limitation of births also were topics of discussion.
The idea of the meetings held is to be increased the health culture of the women from the small settlements, to form an attitude of responsibility to their own health and women to become accustomed to frequent visits to health professionals, which would reduce the risk of cancer.
Often early diagnosis of cancer increases the chances of multiple complete cures. In the early stages of malignancy prominent warning signs are rarely. That is why every woman needs to show activity and responsibility for her own health. «There are various significant signs which can help you to discover the first symptoms of cancer. Do a self-breast exam once a month. This is how you will get a detail picture on your own body and you will more easily notice changes. Be responsible women! » - urged the attending women Dr. Kaleynski.
