Center Amalipe star working on project Roma in EU! ROMA in EU Project is a Leonardo da Vinci- Transfer of Innovation Project developed in the Framework of the Lifelong Learning Programme of the European Commission. Coordinator of the project is INSTITUTO DE FORMACIÓN INTEGRAL, S.L.U. – Spain, Centre “Amalipe” is one of the partners among which are EBG Germany, ROMI-SERSENI ASOCIACIÓN DE MUJERES GITANAS ESPAÑOLAS, ROMANI CRISS  – Romania , DARTKE- Hungary.

ROMA in EU intends to provide mediators/adviser and trainers with the necessary training tools in order to work for the social and/or labor integration of Roma people. The role of mediators is still not settled in the labor or training market. Training in specific competences must be provided to mediators in order to better address Roma community challenges. The key competences the ROMA in EU wants to tackle are “Social and civic competences” and also, in an additional way, “Cultural awareness and expression”, as integration cannot mean the loss of cultural and social differences, but its respect and understanding. Main objective of the project is to develop social and civil competences among mediators, advisers and trainers working in school, social and/or labor integration of Roma people.

Two meetings were held in Berlin and Bucharest, where the partners had the opportunity to know each other , to present their concerns and expectations on this project, to establish a joint work plan and to specify the methodology to adapt and develop training course in project ROMA in EU. To develop the course “Social and civil competences to work for the integration of Roma people”, ROMA in EU Project transfer the training product developed in Leonardo da Vinci project SOCO-VET.

Last months partners of the project carried out discussion groups with experts working in the social and labor integration of Roma people, in order to know how SOCO-VET materials should be adapted. The social skills included are:

• Perception, gesture and facial expressions.
• Problem solving.
• Decision making.
• Tolerance
• Motivation

Under the results of the discussion groups, in the following months partners will adapt and develop the learning contents for the course Social and Civil competences to work for the integration of Roma people.
