23.07.2012A work meeting of directors and experts from the Regional Educational Inspectorates in educational integration of children and students from the ethnic minorities
A work meeting with heads and experts in educational integration of children and pupils from ethnic minorities who are representatives of Regional Educational Inspectorates (REI) was organized jointly by Center Amalipe and Ministry of Education, Youth and Science.
From July 18 to 20 in the height of the summer and in the eve summer holidays the chiefs and the experts from REI’s were familiarized with the results of the second year of the project ‘Decreasing the dropout rate of Roma children’.
The project is being realized on national level and it is financed by ‘America for Bulgaria’ Foundation. Its purpose is to significantly reduce the number of dropouts and absences and to increase the students’ scores in the network of the project-schools. The project builds on the methodology for effective work with students, parents and teachers through the introduction of SIA "Ethnic Folklore - Roma folklore", joint activities with the institutions, parents and children to motivate students to actively participate in school life and continuing education in secondary level. The model that we apply also the third year of the project is known - collaboration between basis and pilot schools where the basis is the leading school that will assist the pilot to keep students in classrooms.
For three days team Amalipe presented the essence, the program's objectives and key activities which it provides. In connection with the project expansion (over 180 applications submitted) there was discussed what is coming next school year. There were schools in every area in which the program could be implemented next year. Discussed were the program to reduce dropout in the context of national policies and the Ministry of Education and National Strategy for Roma integration and also the planning of the implementation on regional and local level.
Our participants reported that these meetings are mutually beneficial and really support the work of government institutions and non-governmental organizations to achieve a mutual goal - improving the educational system of our country and improve the quality of education to children from minority groups.
