From August 30 to September 1 Center “Amalipe” held for the fourth time a training meeting with about 56 representatives of schools, willing to participate in and already operating under the “Prevention of Roma children drop out of school“ program during the new school year 2012-2013.

The seminar was opened by Deyan Kolev, Chairman of Center “Amalipe”. Participants made their presentation and thereby shared what was their motivation to include the schools, they are leaders of in the Program.

The discussion was about the main reasons for early school leaving and how it can be overcome by teaching resources. The principals of schools, who has worked on the program during the past year, shared their experience and the best teaching practices for gathering and keeping children in school. The overall concept and the program summary were presented by Deyan Kolev.

The meeting was attended by Teodora Krumova- Deputy Chairman of CIDT “Amalipe”, who presented in front of the audience the pedagogical concept of the Program to prevent the Roma children drop out, program structure, the main principles and activities it involves. The greatest interest was raised by the time of presentation, suggestions and discussions about the main approaches and activities used for keeping students in school:

-          work with students;

-          work with parents;

-          work with teachers;

-          school class exchanges;

-          life in school and community clubs;

-          other

The professionalism and experience of the “Amalipe” team once again activated all of the participants to take part in the seminar by sharing experience, suggestions and know-how.

Principals and teachers worked into groups on specific tasks, supported by the regional coordinators Pavlina Koleva, Yonka Danova, Nelly Nikolova and the Program Assistant Tanya Vanova.

In discussing the achieved results, Professor Maria Baeva – pedagogical expert of the program, implicitly gave her educational support in all modules.

The participants were mostly interested in the development, discussion and use of the school program to prevent the drop out of Roma students. Basic schools’ experience and good results as a guarantee for the achievement and sustainability of the program were in the basis of the training.

The participants of the working meeting were convinced of the quality of the results, they shared their specific requirements for a particular methodological assistance and also created new collegiate teams to achieve the goal “Transforming school area in a place for every child”.

The team of Center "Amalipe" would like to thank principals, teachers and all institutions for the support, professionalism and confidence that the program will lead to successful integration and retention of minority children in school and will ensure their access to quality education.

The meeting was held in a very friendly atmosphere and ended with a discussion about the structure of the program during the next year and the activities that will be embedded in it.
