For third year Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance “Amalipe” organizes formal guests’ visitations at the official opening of the school year. Guests will be welcomed and included in the celebrations of the schools participating in the program “Prevention of Roma children drop out of school.

Host schools are:

1.        Town of Pavlikeni- “St.Kliment Ohridski” Primary school. Guests are His Excellency Jonathan Alan, Ambassador of the United Kingdom, representatives of REC Veliko Tarnovo-the official opening is at 9.00 a.m.

2.        City of Sofia- 171 “Stoil Popov” Primary school. Guests are His Excellency Phillip Othie, Ambassador of France, Andrey Kovachev - member of European parliament, Atanas Kuzmanov, representative of Center “Amalipe”- the official opening is at 9.00 a.m.

3.        Village of Karadjovo, Plovdiv Region,- “Vasil Levski” Primary school. Guests are interim U.S. Ambassador Ms. Susan Sutton and representatives of the Office of Deputy Prime Minister Tsvetanov,  Pavlina Koleva , representative of Center Amalipe - the official opening is at 10.00 a.m.

4.        City of Sofia -106,, Gregory Tsamblak” Primary school. Guests are Boni Bonev, a representative of the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and Detelina Kotevska - Head of Department Activities and measures” at the ASA, Daniela Nikolova NCCEII representative, representatives of Center Amalipe”, Momchil Baev and Christina Velcheva from the program for Roma students in Medicine - the official opening is at 9.00 a.m.

5.        Village of Vidrare, Sofia region, “Vasil Levski”Primary school. Guests are Milena Damyanova Deputy Minister of ME, Petar Atanasov,NCCEII representative of the Council of Ministers and Boyan Zahariev, Director of Program Education”at  the Open Society” Institute, Yonka Danova, representative of CenterAmalipe”- the official opening is at 10.00 a.m.

More confirmations and participation of new guests and partners of Center “Amalipe” are expected.

All schools, participating in the program will welcome guests, representatives of local and regional administration, the Ministry of Education RECs, creative agencies, nongovernmental organizations.

“Prevention of Roma children drop out of school” program is a three-year initiative of Center “Amalipe”, funded by “America for Bulgaria” Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Education.

In the first year the program covered 34 pilot schools, in the second- 90, and for the new school year 2012/2013 their number reached 180 schools in almost all areas of the country. For the two financial years analysis of the results shows that absenteeism in those schools fell by 40 %, the number of dropouts for various reasonsdecreased by 70% and there is no single dropout in over 60 schools, covered by the Program. The number of students who will continue their education in high school is increased.
