25.09.2012UPCOMING TRAINING: Training seminars for teachers who have not been trained to work in classes on "Ethnic Folklore in Bulgaria - Roma Folklore"

In October 2012 Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance "Amalipe" will  held in Veliko Tarnovo training seminars for teachers who join the program "Ethnic Folklore in Bulgaria - Roma Folklore" (in the form of Elective Training and extracurricular activities). The basic requirements for participation in the training include: the school has pledged in 2012/2013, the study of "Ethnic Folklore - Roma Folklore" in the curriculum and teachers set to lead, not to have attended this training in previous years.

The seminar aims to familiarize teachers with nature, practical and methodological characteristics and peculiarities of teaching Roma folklore; history, culture and folklore of the Roma; association between Roma culture and Bulgarian culture nationwide; interactive methods of teaching and learning in a multicultural environment; opportunities funding to support the work of the Elective Training "Ethnic Folklore - Roma folklore". Participation of teachers in the seminar will be of great importance to the future success of the work groups wishing to study "Ethnic Folklore."

In the past years the "Ethnic Folklore - Roma Folklore" program has proven to be extremely successful to include children from different ethnic groups, especially in mixed schools and to motivate Roma children and parents to be active participants in the educational process. Efforts towards integration in this academic year and programs like "Ethnic Folklore - Roma Folklore" Elective Training will be facilitated and supported by the many opportunities that are discovered through the Structural Funds programs in Bulgaria and the Ministry of Education. In this respect center Amalipe seeks to provide a constant methodological support of schools, who work in the preparation and implementation of projects. This application is supported by the Center "Amalipe" and the "America for Bulgaria" national program- "Prevention of Roma children drop out of school”, that has started in the early 2010. It includes over 180 schools across the country, which are assisted by center Amalipe in keeping Roma children in classrooms. We know that the cause is worth, so it is important for us all the schools, that have shown interest in the "Ethnic Folklore - Roma Folklore" to get useful information and experiences, tested over the years.

It should consists the names of the teacher / teachers who will lead the groups” Ethnic Folklore - Roma Folklore"; personal e-mail address; personal telephone number, what vehicle should be used by the participant. Training seminars will be held at "Lesoparka”hotel in the town of Lyaskovetz in the following order:

The first seminar will be held on the 5, 6, and 7th of October for teachers from Northwest and Southwest region - respectively Vidin, Montana, Vratsa and Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Pernik, Sofia, Sofia district, Pazardzhik.

The second seminar will be held on the 12, 13, and 14th of October for teachers from Southeast and South Central regions – respectively Dobrich, Varna, Burgas, Yambol, Sliven, Haskovo and Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Kardzhali, Smolyan.

The third seminar will be held on the 19, 20 and 21th of October for teachers from Northeast and North Central regions - respectively Targovishte, Razgrad, Shumen, Silistra, Pleven, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse.

Participants must be at 12.00 a.m. in front of the “Ether” hotel in Veliko Tarnovo, where transport to the venue will be organized. CIDT "Amalipe" will cover the accommodation, transport and food costs to the participants of the schools included in the program "Prevention of Roma children drop out of school". CIDT "Amalipe" will cover only food and accommodation costs to the participants of schools, not included in the program. A detailed program of the event will be sent to the participants. Car costs are covered only if two or more people travel together / amount of the cost of tickets /. Participants willing to travel by car and arriving directly at the hotel should inform us in advance.
