16.10.2012The interest to the ECA “Ethnic Folklore-Roma Folklore "increased significantly after the start of the training seminars

 

From 12 to 14 of October Center Amalipe organized and conducted the second training seminar under the program ECA “Ethnic Folklore-Roma Folklore“. The  “Lesoparka” complex \"brightened” by the presence of 65 teachers from 41 schools in the districts of Varna, Dobrich, Burgas, Haskovo, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Yambol, Sliven.

The topics focused on the leaders of groups, clubs, \"Ethnic Folklore - Roma Folklore\" classes that still walk the introduction of the curriculum of the new pilot schools. Teachers were invited to share their experience and good practices that led to very good outcomes / reducing the number of school dropouts, attracting parents to participate in school life and etc /.

Many meaningful, useful and an emotional debate came after the presented “open lesson” in the two groups of participants. The lessons were led by Maya Zaharieva, a senior teacher at “Vasil Levski” school, village of Karadzhovo, Sadovo Municipality. Set in a real situation, the teachers in the role of students made ​​any attempts to hinder the lady, but with professionalism, tact, patience and tolerance Maya cope perfectly. She was rewarded with applauses by her colleagues. We would like to give our gratitude to Maya for the well organized interactive lesson on \"Origin and homeland of the Roma in Bulgaria.\"

Organization during all sessions was on a high level, which was reflected in the questionnaires of the participants. The educational team responsible for the conduct and quality of the organization also remained satisfied with the team activities under the program “Prevention of Roma children drop out of school \", funded by the Foundation “America for Bulgaria\", part of which is the Roma culture and folklore subject.

     Representatives of the \"Center for Community Development\" in Dolna Banya also were involved in the training seminar. They received professional advice how to be helpful in working with parents and shared their experiences in working with the community (involving youngsters; work with children and adults; organization of lectures, campaigns and events).

    Every one of the participants learned a lot! Every one gave a lot of himself!

    Teaching staff, principals, children and parents will be able to improve the quality of the educational process at school by using new interactive discs made ​​specifically to help in conducting ECA “Ethnic Folklore \"- in both groups 2-4th grade and 5-7th grade and in other extracurricular activities.

   ECA “Ethnic Folklore - Roma Folklore\" is implemented in about 250 schools across the country and more than 3,000 students are involved in it. Over the past two years Amalipe monitored the development of children willing to study \"Ethnic Folklore\".  The results are: reduced number of dropouts; reduced number of school absenteeism, increased GPA in all subjects of the included students. We also have an increased involvement of parents in school life and education, considered as a value for the Roma community, increased motivation of teachers to work in a multicultural environment and better dialogue between school - students - parents - community.
