Festival of “Wheat Bread” was held On October 16, 2012 in front of the municipality building in Strazhitsa. It was attended by over 40 participants from the city, villages and neighboring municipalities. The festival was named after the tale “Wheat Bread”, written by Angel Karaliychev, who was born in Strazhitsa. 

All participants had tried to attract the attention of the competent jury with attractive ideas and suggestions. The stands were filled with banica, baklava, cakes, bagels, pastries and other baked goods. The stands were complemented by fresh, homemade cheese, roasted wild and domestic animals and traditional drinks. The jury carefully evaluated and tasted the goods.

The Strazhitsa - Lyaskovets Center for Community Development had prepared delicious homemade cake, milinki and baklava for the guests. Fried dough and gyuzlemi were prepared on the festival. Guests were eager to taste them. Over 250 people attended the "field kitchen" of the Strazhitsa - Lyaskovets Center for Community Development. A quiz - "Guess what's your fried dough filled with - cheese, jam or honey? “was organized. Everyone who knew the answer - won second fried dough prepared by the young masters - Anelia, Emine and Fatma. Disputes were led who would win the first place, but eventually everyone was happy and got the praise and respect. The baklava made from our youngest moderator Emine Asanova received the praise and positive feedback.  And all participants agreed that “Everything cooked with heart is delicious!” Recipes were exchanged and "gatherings" were organized to reveal the mysteries of good taste.

Hristo Hristov, Member of Parliament’; Tanya Lazarova, President of the Zlataritsa Municipal Council; Deputy Mayor of Gorna Oryahovitsa-  Yordanka Kusheva, representatives of Alfatar Municipality; President of the Regional Union of Bakers and Confectioners -  Jeny Sapundjieva and other personalities of the district were among the visitors of the Strazhitsa – Lyaskovets’ stand. The celebration continued with dancing.
