23.10.2012Upcoming training for mentors under the Program

From 26 to 28 of October in the"Lesoparka" complex – Lyaskovets, Center "Amalipe" will hold a training seminar with teachers selected to be "mentors" in the third year of the program "Reducing Roma children drop out of school."

The program is a three year initiative, funded by the "America for Bulgaria" foundation and is nationally widespread. It is supported by the Ministry of Education and is implemented in 180 schools.

The core of the program is the idea that every child is important and its retention and motivation should be administered individually. That is why, Center Amalipe selected 60 teachers, from across the country, who have successfully implemented various methods that have attracted and motivated parents and students to attend regular school and continue their education. The aim of mentors is to share their experiences and best practices with other colleagues, who have several problems with students:  keeping them in school, improving their GPA, decreasing number of absences and effective involvement of Roma parents in school life.

The training seminar aims at presenting successful models and practices which have been implemented over the past year in more than 90 schools, as well as their ability to be adapted to needy schools now.
