15.03.2013Workshop for directors from North-West Region schools

 

On March 11, 2013 in the hotel complex "Chaika" near the town of Vratsa, was held a meeting of the directors of the schools in the Northwest region, operating under the "Reduction of Roma children drop out of school." Special guest was Ekaterina Davidova - Senior  expert  Elementary education in REI Montana.

During the workshop were discussed the results achieved in the first term of the 2012-2013 school year and the problems that occurred in schools. The directors of the four mentoring schools, started work in the first year of the program presented their schools and the ways that they deal with everyday problems. The first presentation was made by Svetlina Valcheva  from "Hristo Botev" school in Dounavtsi town and was entitled "School - a territory of the students". It presented that students  are involved in extracurricular activities and achieve excellent results at school. The second film, which was presented at the meeting showed the best practices in a Roma school -"Hristo Botev", Dolni Tsibar. The principal Slavcho Tashkov paid special attention to working with parents in the community. The presentation of Temenuzhka Tomchovska - Director of "Hristo Botev" school in the village of Banica, aimed to show "What is a mentoring  school?". The presentation showed that mentoring school is very important for the development of the program. The last presentation was made by Maya Donkova - Director of "St. St. Cyril and Methodius " School in Malorad village. Itstheme was "Teamwork - basic school - pilot schools."

The meeting ended with a discussion of the future of the program and all principals shared one and the same opinion – the program should continue.
