15.04.2013Students from the College of Medicine in Varna visiting a small school with a deep soul!

On April 10, 2013 Elementary School "Ivan Vazov" - Dalgopol hosted a workshop initiated by CIEDT "Amalipe" and medical college Varna. The event was attended by students from the College of Medicine, Varna, Pascal Paskalev-Regional Coordinator of CIEDT "Amalipe" - Veliko Tarnovo Municipality representatives of Dylgopol-Tzveta Kostova - Dep. Mayor, Dimitar Denev-education expert ,Maria Hristova - secretary of the municipality, Plamen Yanakiev-CCD to CIEDT "Amalipe" parents.

The purpose of the meeting was to present the activities, methods and approaches to work for the integration of children from ethnic minorities. Mr. Paskalev introduced to students the main Roma groups in Bulgaria and their characteristics as well as the collaboration of our school with CIEDT "Amalipe" under the program Reducing the dropout rate of Roma students. We have worked for second year under the program and our school turned from pilot to mentoring one. Ms. Kostova spoke about specific activities and events that our school has taken for the integration of children from ethnic minorities. The school's participation in projects such as "School Fruit", "School Milk", "SUCCESS" are just some of our work on this pressing issue. The young people were acquainted with our work with the children and with their parents. They asked their questions to them and were surprised by the answers given. Parents reported that their children not only learn, but also develop their talents. In March elementary  school "Ivan Vazov" launched a Project  under the OPHRD BG051PO001-4.1.05 "Educational Integration of Children and Students from Ethnic Minorities", together with the Association for Creativity and harmonious development of personality "Cricket" - Varna. The school formed four groups of 25 children each: "Young puppet actor", "Learn my dance", " Granny's Chest", "Paint the world." In these groups the children dance, draw, make scenery for puppet theater, make costumes, act in roles, but mostly have fun. Parents are also interested  and eagerly attend classes in groups. Teachers and parents together turn their attention to the future - our children.

Students showed interest in the organization of learning process in our school. Thanks to our work on the project "Improving the quality of education by introducing full-day organization of the educational process," co-financed by the EU, we are able to give our students the knowledge and skills in times of selfpreparation. Work for their physical development in times of recreation and sport. In the classes, based on interests the children develop their creative abilities, enrich their knowledge through a variety of educational games, sing, and dance, and have fun.

As proof of the results achieved was the surprise prepared for all guests. Children from "Learn my dance" greeted guests with a Russian Gypsy dance. The small dancers played "Daichovo horo." The vocal group led by G. Chakurova was loudly applaused and Janica, a girl in III"a" grade performed a folk song. Djemil of IV "b" class as a true artist congratulated everybody with the poem "I'm Gypsy" by Usin Kerim.

Guests were fascinated by the meeting. Students were delighted with the work carried out in one small school with a deep soul . Provoked by what they have heard and seen, they promised to be back to us soon. They offered support and assistance in our every endeavor. "I sincerely hope to work together in the future" , said the head of the students Mrs. EVTIMOVA. Such meetings are very useful and enjoyable not only for us but for future social workers.
