26.04.2013Directors of the America for Bulgaria Foundation on working visit to CIEDT,, Amalipe

 

On 25 April 2013, right at 8.45 am in the office of CIEDT,, Amalipe "in Veliko Tarnovo, began meeting between high-level representatives of America for Bulgaria Foundation and the team of Amalipe Centre.

The meeting was attended by:

- Gary E. MacDougal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the America for Bulgaria Foundation, Mrs. Charlien MacDougal and Sarah Perrine - Executive Directorof the Trust for social achievement.

- Deyan Kolev - Chairman of CIEDT,, Amalipe ", Theodora Krumova - Deputy Chair and Educational Programs team at the Center - R. Yordanova, Tanya Vanova, Desislava Stefanova.

 The meeting coincided with ongoing monitoring of the  program ,, Decreasing the drop out from school rate of Roma children". The three-year program is implemented by the Amalipe Center with the support of the America for Bulgaria Foundation in 173 schools throughout the country. The main objective is to reduce dropout of Roma children in the compulsory school age. Project activities are aimed at solving the problem of high absenteeism, low grades in school, lack of participation of parents in school life ...

 In the third academic 2012/2013 year, for the most part, schools deliver results that show that a well-functioning school is the best guarantee for the attraction, retention and success of students. It is also the best environment for a successful educational integration of Roma children.

     In friendly talk Gary MacDougal asked questions and received the necessary information, as reflected in meaningful and quantitative analysis.

     Sarah Perrin asked questions, which showed a good knowledge of both good and problematic countries in the work of schools.

Guests showed high professional interest and competence related to the key objectives of the program:

- Change the overall school environment.

- A variety of teaching methods and communication in school.

- Ensure a supportive environment for the education of Roma children in schools, ensure equal access.

At the end of the third year of the project, after the two-hour meeting, the Centre Amalipe team say goodbye to the visitors ensured of a job well done. Gary McDougall convincingly declared that the program is implemented very well and expected in the next period, the number of schools to increase ... significantly!

The two teams split with wishes for continued partnership and the guests received as souvenirs greeting cards made by children!
