30.10.2013Peer visit on Key Roma project in Spain

 

  Representatives of Amalipe Center and representatives of the women club at the Center for Community Development in Kameno attended an international meeting to exchange experience in Madrid, Spain. The meeting was held within the project Key Roma - Development of key competencies and social skills of Roma women to increase their participation in the service sector, where Amalipe Center is a peer organization.

  
The main objective of the project is to give publicity to the problem that many Roma women cannot be integrated in the labor market due to low education and inadequate skills. The project partners are seeking to address this widespread problem by motivating and encouraging Roma women to participate in trainings and courses. Because in the field of Roma integration and in particular Roma women characteristics and place, the project aims to:

• improve the social and economic integration of Roma women through adult education;

• improve the quality of adult education by providing information relevant to the specific target group;

• increase the participation of Roma women in adult education, which will increase their chances in the labor market ;

• establish a direct dialogue with the target audience and promote social cohesion, active citizenship and personal commitment of the participating women.

  
The meeting was attended by representatives of organizations working on the project and representatives of women's groups, who have passed pilot training. All of them shared how they were trained, how e course helped them to find jobs and what other skills were acquired, such as increased self-confidence and self esteem, motivation, team work, etc. The seminar was attended by representatives from Belgium, Romania, Czech Republic and Spain. All parties expressed their impressions of the pilot implementation of the course and suggestions for further development of the project. Within the Key Roma project, Amalipe Center had the opportunity to develop training modules in which Roma women to be trained, in order to increase their competence in the field of employment. In the town of Kameno the course was conducted with 15 unemployed women and at the time of completion of the project 14 of them were already employed.
