05.02.2014Successful work in a multicultural environment for the better future of our children

 

In the beginning of the school year 2013/2014, Centre ,,Amalipe" launched the project “Every student could be a winner", as a continuation of the three-year program for prevention of Roma children drop out of school, supported by the Trust for social achievement.

The first training was held from 2 to 4 of February, in Veliko Tarnovo. The seminar was for the ten pilot schools in the project.70 teachers and 10 principals participated in the seminar.

Teams from the ten schools run by Deyan Kolev and Theodora Krumova showed successful practices and new ideas that would be useful and applicable in different types of schools - elementary, primary, secondary.

The main question - how to make parents more active and become partner side in the educational process caused discussions, solving cases, making suggestions for implementing unconventional, innovative methods and techniques to achieve this goal. The theme united everyone - from the country village and from the big city and spontaneously created interschool teams.

Participants received from Center “Amalipe” book for teachers, textbooks, and a collection of best practices for working with Roma community. Even during their vacation, the teachers and principals worked with passion and professionalism and outlined the difficulties in their work and ways to overcome them.

The chairman of  Center “Amalipe" Deyan Kolev and Theodora Krumova , together with the educational team of the Center and the Regional Coordinators discussed and planned upcoming activities :

- Report for the first semester;

- Work with students at risk of dropping out;

- ,,Green School" for students in fourth and seventh grade ;

- Meetings - trainings of parent clubs and student parliaments;

With interest and competence, especially in the implementation of pedagogical approaches, joined Doriana Basamakova – an expert in the Trust for social achievement.

Teachers and principals parted with wishes of success and collaboration between pilot schools and team work with all 173 schools.

The project aims along with activities to prevent Roma children drop out of school, to encourage each student that he can be a winner, a winner in what is best at or able to do and brings in himself - talent, interest to a subject , music, art , sports, labour...
