14.02.2014Representatives of the French Embassy visited Community Development Centre in the town of Kameno, Burgas region
On the Day of Love and Wine - February 14, Community Development Center in the town of Kameno welcomed representatives of the French Embassy in Bulgaria. Guests of the centre were: Véronique NORTH-MINCA, attaché on institutional and technical cooperation at the French Embassy and Mariama Diallo, attaché of the MFA of France for children's rights in Romania, Bulgaria and Moldova. The guests were accompanied by Maria Brestnishka of NNC and Zhelio Zhelev, Chairman of the "Faithful guardian" NGO in Burgas. The representatives of France have been welcomed by the community moderators Jordan Stanev. The meeting was attended also by representatives of the local Roma community - local activists who support the work of the moderators in developing the capacity of the local community.
Particular concerns of the French guests were measures in the field of child protection and mechanisms for community support in this regard. The presentation of the art studios were of great interest to the guests. They aimed at prevention of children abandonment in institutions, prevention of violence and aggression among adolescents, increasing motivation for further education. The guests showed interest in the field work of the moderators, the number of children reintegrated in school, children enrolled in childcare and the cooperation of the moderators with local institutions. The guests also visited the Municipality of Kamen and the « Sunshine » Kindergarten, where 40 Roma children were enrolled and regularly attended classes thanks to the efforts and collaboration of the moderators, the municipality and the kindergarten.
The community moderator Jordan Stanev gave all the ladies participating in the meeting, a red carnation. And the ladies of the French Embassy received also gifts, made by the hands of Rudari woman – a spindle and a wooden spoon.
"We are here today to remind the citizens and authorities that we are different, but equal and that children are our wealth and we are all responsiblle to them for their future," said Ms. Veronique North - Minca.
