From 18^th to 20^th of February, traditionally in the beginning of each year, the National Network for Children organized workshops on the four thematic working groups formed in the organization. Neli Nikolova - Regional Coordinator "Educational Integration" of northeastern Bulgaria, from the Amalipe Center, took part in the work of the Thematic Working Group "Education". During the meeting an overview of the work during the past year was made and the current situation of education policy was presented. An indicative action plan for 2014 was made. A particular attention was paid to the presentation and discussion of key government strategic documents, which was presented by Greta Gancheva, Director of Directorate in the Ministry of Education and Science. The participants had the opportunity to get into an open, informal discussion and to plan priorities and activities for 2014 and thereafter. The presentation of social entrepreneurship made by Catherine Nikitina and Tatyana Burmistrova - Reach for Change – Sweden was of great interest. The second day was dedicated to the exchange of experience and mutual learning. Those were the main practices that were presented:

· Children, parents and teachers against hate speech and discrimination - Louisa Shahbazyan, the " Applied Research and Communication" Foundation

· Preventing Roma children dropout of school - Neli Nikolova CIEDT ,, Amalipe "

· Work with children from ethnic minorities in kindergartens, in order to better prepare them in Bulgarian language and increase their school readiness  - Sylvia Stamenova, Association for Early Childhood Development

The participants were impressed by the scope of the work and achievements of the Center “Amalipe" in terms of reducing the dropouts of school.


UPCOMING:

CIEDT "Amalipe" will present its work during the workshop on " Impact on preventing students from dropping out of the education system”, organized by RIE – Targovishte, which will be held on February 28, 2014 at 14:00 pm in the main hall of the II "Prof. N. Marinov" High School, Targovishte.

The meeting will be attended by principals, school counselors, psychologists, class teachers , representatives of NGOs and others.
