29.06.2011Two new operations for educational integration were approved by HRD OP
The Monitoring committee of Human Resources Development Operational Programme approved by written procedure, the final criteria for selection of two new operations: "Educational Integration of Children and Pupils from Ethnic Minorities" and "Reintegration of school dropouts in the educational system." The first of these operations will support projects of schools, municipalities and NGOs to improve access to education and training of children and pupils from the Roma community and other ethnic minorities through continuing the efforts for desegregation, introduction of intercultural education, training teachers to work in multicultural environment and training of children in early childhood (3-6 years) for inclusion in the learning process. In order to avoid misunderstandings, committed in the previous operation "Integration of children and pupils from ethnic minorities', this one clearly indicates eligibility for majority students, and parents. The operation is announced as permanently opened which provides an opportunity to increase the initial budget that is 6 million BGN
"Reintegration of dropouts" will support projects of schools, municipalities and NGOs to return to school students who dropped out through identifying, motivating and community work with the dropouts, creating an adaptive environment in the host school and preventive actions to avoid new drop-out. The operation is a value of 7 million BGN. It is expected through it to reach 2500 students and 1000 dropouts to be reintegrated into school.
Call for proposals will be announced within both operations. The real start of the approved projects will commence in second semester of the academic years 2011/2012
Both operations were proposed by the Roma organizations and imported into the Monitoring Commettee in July 2010 from the observer from the group of Roma NGOs Deyan Kolev. They were supported by the Ministry of Education in April 2011. The negotiations on their parameters continued two months. Finally, the criteria approved by the Monitoring Committee of OPHRD were supported by all stakeholders.
