In the days between 17th and 20th of October Center Amalipe with its volunteer’s HIV prevention club held trainings in four villages in the Veliko Tarnovo region. Those were the villages of Batak, Varbovka, Vodoley and Balvan. Five volunteers, members of the youth organization organized and implemented the trainings for their peers.

In the villages the volunteers worked mostly with children of Roma origin. Some of the presented topics were on the male and female reproductive systems including hygiene, contraception and sexually transmitted infections (STI’s). The volunteers, supported by their coordinator Momchil Baev, took enough time to present the topics in the program for the young people in the villages. One of the teams found itself lucky by working with students age 13-14, but other trainer’s team was challenged by working with students age 11-12. It was visible that the younger ones were having more fun when the trainers were presenting the information on the reproductive systems.

A challenge to the Week of reproductive health was the extreme weather on Tuesday the 18th of October. Due to heavy snow, all roads to the village of Varbovka were closed and failed the training that was planned in the village. Despite all obstacles, the volunteers are totally determined to reschedule the training for the coming weeks.
