09.11.2011Concert of the famous American country group “Mountain Quickstep” was held in town of Peshtera
On November 8, 2011 at 18.00 o’clock was held the concert of the popular American country music group “Mountain Quickstep” (USA) in the building of the “Razvitie” Cultural House in the town of Peshtera (Southern Bulgaria). The concert was initiated by the US Embassy in Bulgaria in cooperation with the Center for community development – Peshtera, created by Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance Amalipe. Partners of this initiative were Municipality of Peshtera and the local Roma NGO “Sun for everyone”. The band was represented to the public by the cultural attaché at the US Embassy in Bulgaria, Mr. Richard Damstra.
For over 13 years, Mountain Quickstep has brought lively fiddle tunes, lonesome folksongs, and fancy footwork to audiences throughout the U.S. and abroad. The toe-tapping instrumental and vocal harmony with French Canadian and Celtic influences combines elements from the old-time, bluegrass, and early country music of the Adirondack, Appalachian and Smoky Mountain regions of the U.S.
The concert attracted a great interest from the community in Peshtera. It was attended by representatives of the local authorities, citizens of Peshtera and surounding places.
