05.03.2012Start of the Key Roma Project

 

Center for Interethnic Dialogue and Tolerance Amalipe, Veliko Tarnovo started its participation within the Key Roma Project, funded by the Life Long Learning Program of the European Commission, which is going to be implemented in 5 different countries.

Start of the project was given with its kick-off meeting which was held in Sofia on February 27-28, 2012.

Main goal of the project is to deal with a problem particularly often faced among the Roma women and mainly – their lack of integration into the labour market due to inadequate education.  In each of these countries will be established a Local learning Group composed of 15 to 20 Roma women to undergo a special training course to improve their special competence and to increase their chances for employment in the service sector. Project beneficiaries are Roma women, associations and organizations working with Roma organizations, providers of vocational education and training, local organizations associations and other public institutions related to social and economic inclusion of Roma and their access to education, service employers sector organizations working with other disadvantaged groups (immigrants, people with disabilities.) who would like to use KEYROMA-methodology.

Amalipe Partners in the project are Instituto de Formación Integral and Romi Serseni (Spain), European Agency for Development (Czech Republic), Intercultural Institute of Timisoara (Romania) and the European Roma Information Office - ERIO (Belgium). Each partner has a leading role in its specific purpose; the primary role of Amalipe is to prepare training modules for all of about 100 Roma women who will be involved in the Local Learning Groups.

Furthermore, the project provides the creation of practical online community. It will be part of the project site: http://www.keyroma.eu, creating an online platform for Roma organizations and experts in education and employment. The aim is to improve project implementation at European, transnational level by encouraging discussion and raising awareness among civil society representatives, politicians, experts, Roma (Roma women) on adult education and socio-economic integration.
