On July 29, 2011  by the initiative of the Ministry of labor and social policy and the Center for Human Resource Development and Regional Initiatives was held a round table on "Best Practices for Integration of Roma into the labor market in Bulgaria."The aim of the event was to help to accelerate and improve the welfare of Roma through exchange of experiences and best practices, and a prerequisite for the meeting was that the integration of Roma is a long term challenge facing government and society.

In recent years, labor mediation has become a successful model for activation of inactive, which implements individual approach in the work with Roma representatives.Specialized job fairs were forsing as good practice for meetings of the employers with representatives of the Romaas well. These concrete achievements, best practices, successful models and mechanisms to work for integration of Roma into the labor market were discussed at the roundtable.

The Roundtable was attended by Mrs. Rosica Ivanova, Secretary of the National Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues at the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy was presented by Mrs. Elena Gyurova and Mr.Kancho Kantardzhiyski and there were representatives of Agency employment, social Assistance Agency and a group of mediators working in different settlements of the country.

On behalf ofAmalipe, as a national organization for contact for implementation of European training project for Roma mediators ROMED in the round table participated  Mr Lyubomir Lazarov. He presented the main observations and findings from the work of mediators working in the past 6 months from the beginning of the project. His presentation could be found here.

During the discussion, the Employment Agency confirmed again its commitment to continue funding the "Activate inactive" program, at least 2 years more, which employed the main part of the labor mediators in the country.
